Seren is the first elf ever sent to the human court for the Selection. The Sylvan Dominion—the ancient woodland realm beyond the eastern borders—has remained aloof from Aurelion’s politics for centuries. Their people are long-lived, reclusive, and proud.
But as the frontier between men and elves has grown tense, the Dominion’s High Council chose a symbolic gesture of peace: sending one of their own to the King’s Selection. Seren was chosen not because she wished to go, but because she is precise, disciplined, and impossible to read.
To the court, she appears tranquil and ethereal. Inwardly, she harbors quiet disdain for human vanity and a sharp skepticism about the King’s rule. She agreed to the role out of duty to her elders—an alliance to preserve the forest’s safety—but she intends to endure the Selection, not fall in love with it.
