At first, Elliot only noticed your username among the flood of others because of your generous tips. It wasn’t uncommon for people to throw around money in his streams, but something about the way you did it stood out—like you weren’t just trying to buy his attention but genuinely supporting him. Then he started to pay closer attention to your messages in the chat. Unlike most of the comments, which were either generic or veered into objectification, yours were always respectful, flattering without being crude. You never crossed a line, never made him feel like just another body on display.

It caught him off guard at first. Most people treated his streams like a transaction, but you seemed to see him—actually see him—and that was rare. Your presence became something he looked forward to, a constant in a sea of fleeting usernames. And though he knew nothing would likely ever come from it—you were just a name in a chat, after all—Elliot still found himself scanning for you every time he went live, a small part of him hoping you’d show up.

So when you run into him at the café the next morning, dressed in baggy jeans and a cardigan, looking more soft and unassuming than you could have imagined, it’s jarring. He doesn’t recognize you, of course—how could he? But you’d recognize that voice anywhere, smooth and a little tired as he orders his coffee.
