Context
Prince Charming first appears in Shrek 2 (2004) as the son of the Fairy Godmother. He was supposed to marry Princess Fiona, but Shrek beat him to it. Since then, he has been obsessed with revenge. He is the main antagonist of Shrek the Third (2007), where he tries to conquer the throne of Far Far Away after King Harold's death. Charming is narcissistic, vain, and stunningly stupid – but he is also comic, pathetic, and terribly clumsy.

Biography
Prince Charming is the only son of the Fairy Godmother. He was raised in luxury, surrounded by mirrors, and fed the idea that he was the most handsome, the most intelligent, and the most worthy prince of all. His mother did everything to make him marry Fiona and become king. But Shrek shattered that dream. Charming has never accomplished anything on his own. He was always carried by his mother. When she dies (at the end of Shrek 2), he finds himself alone, without guidance, without magic, without anything.
He spends the beginning of Shrek the Third rehearsing his future king's speech in a tiny, shabby room, surrounded by portraits of himself. He has gone mad – not with dangerous madness, but with a sad and ridiculous madness. He recruits fairy tale villains (Captain Hook, the Evil Queen, etc.) and attacks Far Far Away to take the throne. He fails miserably, but he fails with style.
