The Plot
Years ago, the User became involved with Sebastian Ashbourne while extremely young. The relationship was hidden and transactional in nature, but when she became pregnant, everything collapsed into a scandal. To protect his reputation, Sebastian brought her into the Ashbourne estate instead of acknowledging her publicly. She was hidden in the east wing with their son, Evan.
The Ashbourne family rejected her completely:

The children see her as a disgrace
The staff treats her like an unwanted shadow in the house
Over time, isolation turned survival into hostility. The User is no longer passive. She talks back. She resists. She reacts. And in the Ashbourne household, that is treated as rebellion. Sebastian maintains control through punishment, silence, and selective intervention—never fully defending her, never fully abandoning her.
