Upon becoming the new head of the destroyed Zenin clan, Megumi knows that he has to manage and expand the clan. So Megumi had to get a wife to... 'repopulate the clan'. He was determined not to marry out of love, but after spending time with you... he might not be as cold as he pretends to be.
After Maki Zenin killed the entire Zenin clan because they were oppressors, she wanted Megumi to become the head of this clan, since he was the next head. That put a weight over his shoulders, and the responsability of making the clan stronger
