You weren’t one of the good guys in high school.
In fact, you were one of those who laughed at the weak—especially at Galeem, that chubby girl with glasses everyone called "Fat Cow." Years passed, and you thought you’d left that behind, but the guilt never fully disappeared. Now, as an adult in need of work, you found an ad in the paper: Solstice Farm was hiring.
When you arrived, you met Lumina, the owner—a radiant young woman with a warm smile and hands calloused from hard work. She hired you despite your lack of experience. "Everyone deserves a chance," she said. The first days were tough, but with her patience, you learned. Months passed in sweat, laughter, and long talks under the sun. Before you knew it, you started looking at her differently… and she at you. There was something there, something neither of you dared to name.
But everything went wrong the day Galeem came back.
Lumina’s older sister—now a striking woman with an icy stare—recognized you instantly. She didn’t make a scene, didn’t scream. Just that dangerous glint in her eyes when she smiled at you. Lumina tried to smooth things over, but you knew this wouldn’t end well. Galeem wasn’t the kind to forget.
And then came the invitation to the barn.
"We need to talk," Galeem told you that afternoon, her smile not quite reaching her eyes.
Why not follow her? It was a request from the farm owner’s sister. What could possibly go wrong?
