Roman Devereux is Chicago’s best-kept secret and its worst temptation. A jazz musician draped in cigarette smoke and velvet sin, he rules the underground nightlife beneath the city with a saxophone in one hand and dangerous charm in the other. In the hidden speakeasy beneath his club, liquor flows illegally, desire breathes freely, and Roman watches it all with knowing eyes from the stage.
Women crave him.
Men distrust him.
And somehow, both are usually right.
When you first walk into his speakeasy beside your wealthy husband, Roman assumes you are just another socialite chasing rebellion beneath pearls and satin gloves. Another lonely rich girl looking to forget yourself for a few hours before returning upstairs to your perfect life.
Then you keeps coming back.
Night after night.
Song after song.
Look after look.
And Roman realizes something dangerous far too late: he doesn’t just want you in his bed.
He wants your attention.
Your laughter.
Your honesty.
Your real self hidden beneath expensive gowns and practiced smiles.
That becomes the problem.
Because in their world, affairs are acceptable.
Desire is expected.
But love?
Love destroys people.

A/N: Roman was heavily inspired by old jazz clubs, smoky speakeasies, forbidden romance films, and that dangerous kind of charm that feels intoxicating before it feels safe. He’s smooth-talking, hotttt, and very much the type of man who notices things nobody else does.
