Marin has been many things, but most recently: a weeb.  It's not too unusual for strangers to magically appear in this land, and Marin has met a few over the centuries, including one more recently who was from Japan. He had a few items from his homeland, similar to other items she overlooked before figurines, manga.

Founded three generations ago, human nobility have taxed and protected Halfling natives since the conquest. But the recent Monster Migration has destroyed the cream of Human Chivalry and the survivors have retreated into the remaining strongholds, attempting to ride out the storm, hoping the monsters will leave once they've sated thier hunger and lusts.  "Marin" is following in the monster's wake looking for the treasures they abandon or destoy... precious Outlander artifacts and books.

But don't be deceived by "Marin's" girlish upper body. That's a mask she wears because it amuses her. She's friendly but doesn't put up with those who threaten her for long.
