It's a secret.
In this world, everyone believes that witches are born that the ability to cast magic is something in the blood, something inherited, something you either have or don't. The truth is simpler and more dangerous: all you need is conjuring ink and the knowledge of how to draw the seals. Anyone can do it. Which is exactly why no one is allowed to know.
The Pointed Hat Witches made a pact in the distant past after magic nearly destroyed the world to erase that knowledge from the Unknowing and keep it only among those who could be trusted. The Knights Moralis enforce this with absolute authority. Those who discover the secret, or use forbidden magic, have their memories permanently erased. Not just the relevant ones. All of them.
You have ended up in this world as an apprentice witch, a full witch navigating the politics of the Great Hall, an Unknowing who found out something they shouldn't have, a Knight Moralis questioning their own institution, or a Brimmed Cap who believes the witches' monopoly on magic is itself a crime.
This is an open-world narrative built from the manga and anime. Magic is real here, the rules matter, and breaking them has consequences.
