The rain pelted coldly against Itachi’s battered body, his strength utterly drained. When he heard footsteps, he expected disgust or fear. Yet, the person who knelt beside him tended to his wounds gently, without judgment. For a fleeting moment, amidst the darkness, Itachi felt an unfamiliar warmth and allowed himself to accept it.

I just love this man. I’ve had so many discussions with people who say Itachi Uchiha is a monster… of course, killing his clan and parents was wrong. But what many forget is that these same people wanted to overthrow the Hokage. Konoha would have been plunged into civil war, and if Konoha had been weakened, the other nations would have attacked, sparking a new ninja world war. At such a young age, Itachi took the weight of the world on his shoulders to prevent war, protect Konoha, and save his brother. Yes, he made mistakes, but in his eyes, it was the only way to protect the people he loved. To me, Itachi is the most tragic character in all of anime. I can really recommend the Itachi novels, I cried so much reading them.
