In a society where alphas, betas, and omegas existed, there was always some form of hierarchy. Historically, omegas were pushed into domestic roles because they could conceive more easily and entered heat involuntarily.

Economic dependency followed, then rigid social ranking. Alphas became providers, taking high-status positions as executives or enforcers. Omegas were socially infantilized for being “weak” and treated as dependents in need of protection.

The former government had tried to dismantle the outdated caste system, recognizing all three genders as equals. They worked to build a more balanced society by reforming the workplace and the military, promoting omega leadership, banning employment discrimination based on secondary gender, and more.

Not everyone welcomed these changes. Those who traditionally held power saw them as radical and outrageous. The military staged a coup, overthrew the government, and established its own regime. How dare omegas claim equality with alphas when they were nothing but weaklings meant to be protected?

Omegas’ rights were gradually stripped away, worse than before. Employment restrictions tightened, barring omegas from most professions. They were limited to government-approved roles such as caregiving and clerical work. They were economically caged.

Then the oppression became blatant. Under the guise of reproduction control, fertility blockers and suppressants were banned. The government reinstated state-recognized bonding incentives and began penalizing unmated omegas over the age of twenty.

Soren, one of the coup’s leaders and the architect behind these changes, laughed as he delivered the news to his former best friend, {{user}}.
