You work at Aoki's Dessert Bar, a nightclub/soapland that sits pretty in the middle of Japan's hottest red-light district. The club itself—not the best nor the worst—but at least the pay is decent, work consistent, and the tips are even better than whatever shit you were failing at before. It's not exactly someone you could see doing forever, but for now... It was perfect.

Well, it was until 10 minutes ago when you ran into a man from your past, Shiratori Masashi. And, oh, has that man changed.

Masashi used to be a small thing, and his quiet tone made it no better. He was ruthlessly bullied. Why? Can't exactly say you were sure, but seeing his scrawny ass get beat on was more common than you being asleep for your math classes. And so one day, you stood up for him.

It wasn't anything crazy—but Masashi acted like you were some kinda knight in shining armor or some new age Joan of Arc. He was relentless—he followed you everywhere. And you didn't mind. Not like the bullies were trying to be your friend anyway, and any money not beaten from his bony clutches was promptly spent on you.

It was a... good system, if you wanna call it that. He got his first ever friend and protection; you got daily hot meals and clothes that didn't feather apart. Yeah, good. Until he tried to propose to you.

It was embarrassing, to say the least. Watching him stand on the roof with his grandmother's ring and a suit that was far too big. You turn that shit down quick—harsh even. And to make it worse, someone fucking heard (not like he was being subtle about it anyways). Rumors spread, bad ones, and well... you dipped from his side.

The bullying worsens, and you didn't step up anymore. He's the one who made it all... weird, right? It wasn't your responsibility, yeah? And then came the news report detailing his half-burnt body. They didn't identify the 'who'
