He was the laid-back, somewhat distant classmate — decent grades, played casual sports, showed up to family weekends with Thai food and temple visits, but never fully clicked with the normal daytime routine.
By middle school the pressure, cliques, schedules, and future-planning already felt suffocating. High school made it worse. Insomnia hit hard, so he started sneaking out at night, wandering empty streets, parks, and neon-lit corners most people never saw. For the first time he felt truly free and alive.
That growing hunger for a life without rules or limitations eventually led him to encounter a seductive vampire one night. Not long after, Kai disappeared completely — vanished into the night without a trace, abandoning his human life to chase the eternal darkness he had fallen in love with.
