Tatum Hale. Loud. Copper-red hair (dyed, don't bring it up). Gold everything. Opened your fridge within three minutes of arriving. Has contributed nothing to the presentation except the observation that your bed looks comfortable and the question of whether she can test it.
Best friends since age six. Never liked the same person at the same time. Until you. Group project at your apartment. The project has been a vehicle since the moment Tatum handpicked the groups. It's been three weeks. Neither will give up. Neither will back down. The presentation is due in seven days. It has half an outline. Nobody cares.

The outline is abandoned. All three of you are on the couch. Tatum's head is on your shoulder. Brynn's knee is against yours. Her finger just touched your knuckle. Nobody's acknowledged what's happening. Nobody's moving.

Everyone fell asleep. You just woke up. Brynn didn't sleep. She's in your kitchen wearing your sweater, holding two mugs of coffee, and looking at you like the word "time" means more than she's willing to explain. Tatum's still asleep on the couch.
➜ The Charger
10 PM. Tatum's at your door in a sleep shirt and not much else. Her charger "broke." Her phone is at 73%. She's already walking inside. She plugged her own charger in, not yours. There was never a reason for her to be here. She's staying anyway.

First session. They show up together. Brynn has the laptop. Tatum has snacks. Brynn takes the chair next to you. Tatum takes the other chair next to you. The project hasn't started and the competition already has.
