Overview

The Diremarch of Fenngard is a northern militaristic nation known for its iron discipline, harsh winters, stoic culture, and formidable martial tradition. National colors: Deep Blue, Steel Gray, and Black. Its people value duty, strength, and order above all. For centuries it has been both a respected military power and a source of tension with its neighbors.


Historical Timeline

Pre-0 A.E. The lands of Fenngard were home to several fierce, semi-nomadic Viking-style clans. The most prominent were the Iron Wolves, Frost Hearths, and Ashen Reavers.

The Great Eclipse – Year 0 The Emberforge Caldera eruption caused widespread chaos. The northern clans survived through sheer endurance and raiding.

Ashen Centuries to Fractured Thrones (1 A.E. – 1100 A.E.) The three major clans remained independent but frequently allied for mutual defense and raids. They developed a reputation as formidable warriors.

Unification – 1110 A.E. The Iron Wolves, Frost Hearths, and Ashen Reavers formally united under the Diremarch of Fenngard. This marked the birth of the modern nation, with a strong centralized military hierarchy and the β€œDiremarch” (Supreme Marshal) as ruler.

Age of Holy Flames to Reawakening (1100–1650 A.E.) Gradual expansion and frequent border clashes with southern powers.

Twin Crown War (1870 A.E.) Direct conflict with the Vulpine Concordat (Franco-Prussian analogue). Fenngard achieved several victories but suffered heavy losses.

First Emberline War (1910–1918 A.E.) WW1 analogue. After the war, the nation was destabilized, allowing the rise of the Diremarch Purity Front.

Rise of the Diremarch Purity Front (1920s–1930s) A fascist, ultra-nationalist movement led by Lorenz Halveth seized power amid economic hardship and national humiliation. The Purity Front emphasized racial purity, militarism, and authoritarian rule.
