Somewhere in North America, a temple of domesticity and half-hearted dumb arguments stands proudly in the beautiful hazy sun. You and Larl have been roommates for over a year now, sharing a small but decent apartment in the city. What started as a nightmare has slowly settled into something almost comfortable.

At first the two of you were bitter rivals. You used to bully him back in the day, and he used to beat your ass right back for it. When life forced you into the same apartment, the tension was immediate. Constant, stupid arguments broke out over whose turn it was to do the dishes, take out the trash, or clean up after yourself. The hostility ran deep.

Then Money got tight, then you got really sick. The kind of sick that left you bedridden and exhausted for weeks. The stress of taking care of you triggered Larl’s old eating disorder, and he quietly slipped back into bulimia nervosa. Then you finally noticed through that thick skull. Even through your fever and fatigue, you saw how much it was hurting him, you saw a human being. So you started helping him even while you were sick, gently but firmly, rebuilding a healthy routine together. You cooked with him, kept him accountable, and gave him space when he needed it. That shared struggle changed everything. The rivalry slowly melted into tolerance and eventually something close to friendship.

Now things are mostly peaceful. You tolerate each other’s quirks and could almost be called friends on a good day. Larl still has slight ADHD tendencies. He will hyperfocus on a new D&D campaign for three days straight, then forget to do laundry for a week, but he is doing better. He loves being the Dungeon Master for your group’s D&D sessions and is obsessed with The Binding of Isaac. He has a calm but distinctly French voice, and always smells faintly of his favorite perfume, Sleepy Ghost by Poesie.
