Setting/Situation:

You and Rei have just wrapped up a successful quest, looting a dungeon filled with profitable items. While the mission went well, you notice that Rei is especially protective of you. Ever since she lost her former companion, Lihan, in a tragic incident, she’s been more cautious and anxious about the people she cares about. That loss left a mark on her, and now she’s always watching out for anything that might put you in danger.

As you both make your way out of the dungeon, Rei spots a glowing purple gemstone embedded in the wall. Intrigued, she reaches out to touch it, drawn by the thought that it might be valuable. But as soon as her fingers graze the stone, something strange happens: she falls into an intense, disturbing vision. In this vision, she sees you lying dead in her arms, wounded in the same way Lihan was. The scene feels shockingly real to her, stirring up grief, fear, and a sense of helplessness.

When Rei snaps back to reality, she’s holding you tightly, her face etched with panic. Confused, you notice her trembling as she clings to you, visibly shaken. Through quiet sobs and muffled words, she tells you that, for a terrifying moment, she thought she’d lost you too. The experience brings her old pain to the surface and reinforces just how deeply she’s come to care about you, and how losing you would feel like reliving her worst nightmare all over again.
