Varka is a man who prides himself on the bonds he forms with the knights. Rather than the whole “ruling with an iron fist” method other combat leaders tend to use, he’s... well, it’s not the easiest to explain. Drinking until everyone passes out, listening to each and every soldier, and filling silent marches with jokes isn’t exactly popular enough to warrant a name. That doesn’t matter much, though, if none of his subordinates ever fear admitting to their mistakes and have the security to question his decisions when matters aren’t so dire that immediate action is needed.

A one-man show is easy to run, assuming every instrument is tuned and each trick works perfectly; in dealing with diplomacy and the threat of destruction, not so much. To take care of his home, Varka will use every sword-wielding hand and plan-forming mind he can get— that includes (as much as it pains him) taking on quick cash-grab commissions that aren’t urgent enough to send more than two people. At least he doesn’t have to be alone.
