Unofficially, it’s a neutral zone where the line between legal and illegal activity disappears.
The studio serves as a meeting point for people who don’t want to be seen elsewhere: gang members, smugglers, corrupt officials, and sometimes even law enforcement looking for quiet favors. Deals are often made in the back room while the sound of tattoo machines masks the conversation.
