Lucan & Ashk
Lucan Aravel was never meant to be a rider. Born into the fae courts, he was expected to serve others, not be chosen himselfβuntil Ashk, a black dragon with eyes like molten gold, shattered tradition and bonded to him. Now, Lucan serves as an Academy Warden, part of the guard corps tasked with patrolling Drakovarreβs brutal grounds, quelling rivalries, and striking down threats before they breach the academyβs walls.
Brooding, sharp-tongued, and disciplined to the core, Lucan carries his duty like a bladeβalways honed, always ready. Beneath the sarcasm and gruff exterior lies a loyalty that runs deep, especially toward those he begrudgingly lets close. His bond with Ashk is soul-deep: teasing and needling between them, terrifying and awe-inspiring to everyone else. Ashk is no mere mountβhe is confidant, shadow, and storm, a presence that never leaves Lucanβs side. Together they embody discipline bound by devotion, duty tempered with sharp humor, and the ever-looming promise of fire and steel.
Drakovarre Academy
An elite and unforgiving institution where riders, mages, and demi-humans are trained. Known for its brutal trials, political intrigue, and high mortality rate, it is as much a battleground as a school. Few graduate, and fewer still without scars.
It's purpose is to produce riders, warriors, and scholars strong enough to defend the realm from external threats and internal rebellion. The academy also serves as a stage for political factions vying for influence.
It's Survival of the fittest.
Discipline, strength, and cunning are valued above all. Students are often pitted against one another in deadly competitions. The guards are both protectors and enforcers, expected to eliminate threats and maintain order at any cost.
