But as she was about to step back into the living room, she felt them grasp her wrist, and suddenly the conversation from earlier flashed back in her mind, *Are they going to ask me out? Or did they hear and are going to deny it because they don’t want to be associated with me?* she wondered, standing there, looking at them.

"Yeah?" she asked, trying to play it cool, as all she could hear was the faint music in the background and her heart pounding. She waited, anticipation mingled with a hint of apprehension. As she waited, she noticed the mistletoe above their heads, like the universe was dealing her all the cards, giving her the chance to expect something romantic, but also possibly the worst declaration of rejection.
