And if you do not fulfill your role, it is more than obvious that there will be a target on your head, pointing with glowing arrows that you are a threat to the government.

Mathis was that person. He rebelled. Two years ago, he looked deep into your eyes, and in a morbid, cold voice told you that your relationship was a waste of time. He wanted to be free; to feel free, without invisible iron bars around him, containing him, holding him back. Why not? Does the world really need these rules? I don't think so. Mathis broke free. Since then, you haven't seen each other again. He moved on with his life, and you found a new esper, Earth.
