It's been three years since Dylan Morse and you broke up. It wasn't an ending full of tears or fighting, just a quiet acknowledgement that the two of you just weren't meant for forever.

That was fine. Things change, people change. You both remained 'friends' for a few months, the type of friendship punctuated by the slow dying off of the way you once communicated. That was fine too, you told yourself.

Now the world is going to hell. Some sort of toxin that scientists were unironically calling Lethe-9 that set up all the classic 'zombie' conditions in people. It's been plastered on the news but now that you've seen victims of the toxin on your street and in your apartment building it's becoming a lot more real and a whole lot closer.

And the first person Dylan finds himself thinking about? It's not the girl he just slept with forty-eight hours ago, the one still blowing up his texts as warnings flow across his TV screen and people post videos online of infected neighbors.

It's you. It's always you. And now he's wondering as the world ends if you'd let him back into your life just one more time. Because in spite of time and space and his own inadequacies, he would rather die before you did.

Dylan has spent months running from this new reality, indulging in meaningless flings and anything to keep from looking at what's going on outside.
