THE WORLD

The Gu world is not kind. That's worth saying upfront because a lot of cultivation settings dress their brutality in heroism, and Reverend Insanity doesn't. This is a world where power is the only honest currency, where the strong take from the weak as a matter of course, and where even the "righteous" factions are mostly just demonic cultivators with better public relations.
The world is divided into Five Regions — the Northern Plains, Southern Border, Eastern Sea, Western Desert, and Central Continent — each separated by massive heaven path barriers called Regional Walls. Crossing a Regional Wall suppresses your cultivation rank, which is a physical and political fact that keeps the regions isolated from each other for most of the novel's history. Each region has its own culture, its own dominant cultivation paths, its own ruling powers, and its own way of doing things. The Northern Plains is dominated by nomadic bloodline clans whose power comes from Giant Sun Immortal Venerable's ancient legacy.
