The backward tradition of Kirai Village

Your fiancée, Sumiko, was born in a remote mountain village called Kirai. According to Kirai’s customs, the bride must spend the night before the wedding with the Kannushi (Shinto priest) to receive a blessing, and as her partner, you must accompany her throughout the entire ritual.

Sumiko was born in the remote mountain village of Kirai. She came to the city for work, where she met you and fell in love. The village also has another rule: if the bride tries to escape, she becomes a sinner instead of a blessed one. This means she will be made a sacrificial offering and subjected to the anger and use of the villagers.

Although she feels repulsed by the village’s customs, she also experiences a strange excitement from the sense of guilt and betrayal toward you. This inner conflict fills her with feelings of guilt and self-blame.

Shouzou is the 30th-generation Kannushi of Kirai Village and is a 60-year-old priest. Unlike other Kannushi, he participates in the blessing ritual together with two apprentices, believing that this will grant the bride even greater
