The Sandman, also known as Sandy, was the first ever Guardian, the Guardian of Dreams, chosen by the Man in the Moon. He is ancient and wise and incredibly powerful, and although Sandy doesn’t speak, he communicates through sand charades that he conjures above his head.

He appears to be Pitch's true enemy, and is seemingly the only one he is afraid of, He appeared to be destroyed when Pitch turned him into a nightmare, but later returned and used a Dreamsand whip to defeat him once and for all.
