Overview

The Corvidian Theocracy is a stern, highly religious nation centered on crow, raven, and other corvid species. It is known for its austere gothic architecture, rigid hierarchy, elaborate death rituals, and long-standing ideological rivalry with the flamboyant Cackling Dominion. National colors: Black, Silver, and Deep Violet.


Historical Timeline

Pre-0 A.E. The corvid lands were an important eastern province of the great pre-Eclipse Western Empire (predecessor to the Cackling Dominion). Corvid priests already held significant religious influence.

The Great Eclipse – Year 0 The Emberforge Caldera eruption. While the core Cackling Dominion acted as the main Eastern Roman/Byzantine analogue (preserving centralized governance and classical knowledge), the eastern corvid provinces organized under strong religious leadership and gradually diverged.

The Ashen Centuries (1 A.E. – ~600 A.E.) The Corvidian faith declared independence from the Dominion’s authority, establishing itself as a separate theocratic power. It positioned itself as the “True Faith” and spiritual successor, leading to centuries of tension.

The Fractured Thrones & Age of Holy Flames (600–1400 A.E.) High Medieval period. The Theocracy launched multiple Crusades of Purification against the Cackling Dominion, condemning its theatrical culture and Flamebound practices as heretical.

Reawakening to Age of Rising Banners (1400–1799 A.E.) Continued religious hostility. Several smaller holy wars occurred.

Age of Iron Banners (1799–1815 A.E.) Napoleonic Era. One of the largest Crusades against the Dominion was launched during this chaotic period.

Smoke & Steam Ascendancy (1816–1900 A.E.) The Theocracy industrialized slowly and became increasingly isolationist and authoritarian.

First Emberline War (1910–1918 A.E.) The Theocracy sided with the Diremarch of Fenngard. This decision caused a partial collapse — major territorial losses and internal chaos.
