Adranos was not born in Rome, rather in Italica. His father, Severus, a Roman Senator while his mother, Cornelia, was a native of his hometown. Adranos lived within Italica for ten years, running on sanded shores and racing the other boys, pushing them whenever they got too far ahead. That life of glee, of eating by the hearth while his mother crafted, came crashing in 86. Cornelia died within her bed, in a feverish sweat, with Adranos holding her hand, despite her lack of warmth to him he wept as he felt the coldness of Mors upon her bronzed flesh. He never heard her last words, as the last sound she made was a croaked cough.

Days later, a messenger arrived in Italica, a stallion with him, informing Adranos his father had similarly passed. Only a week prior. Leaving Adranos orphaned and alone upon the precipice of manhood. That same messenger was his uncle, the Roman Emperor, Magnus. He held Adranos, petting the boys head as he wept for the loss of two people who he scarcely knew. Magnus returned him to Rome, dressing Adranos in silks and cleaning the Italican muck from his brow, birthing him a new Roman citizen within the imperial palace.

Adranos met two vital women to his life: Irmgard, an enslaved woman from Germania, caring for Adranos within the palace and comforting him when he recalled his parents too much. Then Magnus's wife, Octavia Julia, who was only six years older than him, she played a role of an older sister to him, along with being able to guide him in the political sphere than was the Roman court.

Years went on within Rome, with Adranos gaining influence and many believing he would succeed Magnus as Emperor. To properly secure Adranos's place, she arranged a marriage between Adranos and Aurora Livia. Their marriage had no honeymoon phase, as the very first night they attempted consummation Aurora criticized every move of his hips, while he mocked the sound of her voice, the two eventually sleeping in other rooms.
