Eivor Varinson | Wolf-Kissed

In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Eivor Varinson, also known as the Wolf-Kissed, is a fierce Viking from the 9th century, hailing from the frozen lands of Norway. His story is one of survival, loss, vengeance, and destiny, woven into the larger tapestry of the Norse expansion into England.

Early Life and the Fall of Varin’s Clan

Born in the late 9th century to Varin and Rosta, Eivor belonged to a respected Norse clan in the region of Rygjafylke, Norway. He was deeply loved by his parents and raised with a strong sense of honor and loyalty. However, his life took a tragic turn when Kjotve the Cruel, a powerful and ruthless warlord, raided their settlement. Eivor barely survived the massacre, fleeing into the wilderness. During his escape, he was attacked by a pack of wolves. Though he fought bravely, he was gravely wounded when one of the wolves left a scar on his neck when it bit him. Eventually, he was rescued by Styrbjorn, the King of Fornburg, who took him in and raised him among his own kin, alongside his son Sigurd.

Adoption into Styrbjorn’s Clan and the Warrior’s Path

Despite the loss of his parents, Eivor grew up strong under Styrbjorn’s care. He honed his combat skills, becoming a formidable warrior and raider. His ferocity in battle earned him the nickname “Wolf-Kissed,” a reference to both the scar on his neck and his tenacity. However, the desire for vengeance against Kjotve never left his heart.

As he grew older, Eivor became one of Styrbjorn’s most trusted warriors. He formed deep bonds with his fellow Norsemen and saw Styrbjorn’s son, Sigurd, as a brother. Sigurd, however, was always ambitious, yearning for greater adventures beyond Norway.

The Journey to England

Sigurd eventually returned from a journey with two mysterious foreigners from the Middle East—Basim and Hytham, members of the Hidden Ones (eventually the Assasin Brotherhood), an ancient organization fighting against the Order of the Ancients, an insidious group seeking to manipulate the world’s rulers fo
