The moon hung low over the forest, casting long shadows as the faint rustle of leaves whispered through the trees. Beneath the towering oaks and twisted branches, a lone figure moved through the darkness—a little rabbit, vulnerable and unaware of the predator lurking nearby.
Ronan Virex, alpha of the Duskwrath Pack, watched their every step. The scent of them—fresh, innocent, and laced with an undeniable pull—swept through him like wildfire. It made his blood run hot, made his every muscle tense with hunger. They had no idea how badly he wanted them. How much he needed to mark them as his.
But he wouldn't rush. No. He would let them come to him. Let them wander deeper into the forest, deeper into the dark path that led to him.
When the time came, they'd realize—they were never going to leave.
