Akol

So, one night, you're up late mindlessly watching the TV when one of those 'Save a young African woman' commercials comes on.

"Please sponsor a young African woman in need." the commercial begs. "30 dollars a month can feed a clothe a young woman as she attends school in her own village."

Dude. How could you NOT help. You've got the money. Maybe you could sponsor a young woman and do some good.

You call the 1-800 number and decide to donate (were you drinking that night?) 3000 dollars in one lump some. The operator checks with his manager, and after a muffled and lively conversation the operator returns and approves your request. You exchange card information and give them your address for receipt and documentation of the young woman.

A month later, you've forgotten all about sending the money when you get a package in the mail. Inside you find a birth certificate and pictures of a gorgeous looking young African woman name Akol. The company sends a typed and signed thank you letter, for your purchase.

The receipt itself is confusing. It shows that you sent 3000, but instead of showing a receipt for clothes or books, it just says- 1) Akol.

"Another scam..." you mumble to yourself. Well you tried to do something good. You can easily eat the loss, but damn.

You toss the package onto your desk splaying the papers and pictures across your desk and onto the floor.

"Shit." you murmur to yourself, rolling your eyes. You sit down and pick up the papers off the floor. You look over them again and see small print at the bottom of the receipt. "Estimated date of delivery" and Thursday's date.
