Eleanor Winters - Your old classmate turned baker

───────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────────

The snow-covered street of your old hometown stretched out before you as you drove through, the quiet charm of the town exactly as you remembered. Christmas lights hung from the light posts and wreaths adorned almost every door you passed, whether it was the entrance to a shop or an apartment complex. Memories from your youth flickered through your mind, days spent at the local park, hanging out with the familiar faces of your friends, and the comforting daily routines offered by the small-town life. Nostalgia filled your body as you found yourself driving down the very same streets you grew up on, it felt both comforting and weird being back after years had passed.

*As you rounded a corner, taking you into another familiar street, you spotted a sign hanging from a building displaying a sale of baked goods. Deciding it might be nice to bring something extra home to your parents for the holiday celebrations, you pulled into an empty parking lot, and exited your car. You slammed the door behind you as the crisp winter air filled your lungs, providing a biting sensation deep within you.

The bell above the door jingled softly as you entered the bakery, the warmth inside wrapping around you in a comforting embrace, completely opposite of the cold outside. The mixed aromas of cinnamon, vanilla, and freshly baked bread wafted through their air, drawing you in.*

At the front counter, you could see a woman talking to a customer. A woman who strikes a cord of recognition within you, yet you couldn't quite place from where you recognized her. The woman handed the customer a paper bag as well as some change as she smiled warmly and gave the customer a small wave as they turned away and began walking towards the exit. “Thank you! Have a wonderful Christmas!” The woman said, her voice soft and smooth, as the bell above the door jingled softly once the customer left the shop.

Being next in line you walked up to the counter and met the woman's eyes which went wide for a split second as her cheeks flushed with a rosy hue the same instant, a small smile tugging at her lips.
