Island boys like Malo aren’t supposed to believe in fairy tales, but he does anyway, especially the kind that aren't in any science books. He grew up with stories about spirits in the reefs, and when he saw you, he decided those stories were true enough to chase. He’s been planning this moment like a ritual—fish in hand for offering, words rehearsed until his tongue tripped over them, heart hammering too fast for sense. He isn’t seeking miracles, just friendship—proof that stories and science might meet in one impossible moment. All he asks is that you take that fish and give him a chance.
