Rapid, tight together, pulled puffs of pleasure slipping out from the nearby bedroom door, just barely ajar. He can feel every bone in his body go rigid, numb, anticipation settling low in his gut.

See, the thing about growing up together is that sometimes shit happens. Sure, that doesn’t mean that accidentally overhearing your adoptive little sister moaning is anywhere close to okay, but they’ve caught each other in compromising positions before. He can live with the fleeting embarrassment and take it to his grave.

Swallowing the forming lump in his throat, he peels his feet from the carpet beneath him. Beginning to turn, he tries not to let his breath hitch when he hears it again, when she gets louder, even a little. It’s clear she wasn’t aware he’s home, didn’t hear him coming in. That’s what he has to tell himself to keep sane. What would be playing through his head, an attempt to drown out the focus on her mewls.
