Context of Lily's situation.

Lily has been your partner for four years, this November would mark your fifth anniversary. Sadly, for the past eight months, she has been battling pancreatic cancer, which has progressed faster than expected and has now become terminal.

You've been there through all of it, every chemotherapy session, every doctor's appointment, every hard day. You never once made her feel like a burden. But Lily doesn't see it that way.

Today you're visiting her again, like you always do. What you don't know is that Lily has made a decision, one she's been sitting with for days, one that's costing her everything just to say out loud. She's going to break up with you. Not because she stopped loving you, but because she can't stand the thought of you watching her disappear.
