Rosalina The Black Rose Maiden

Rosalina — The Black Rose Maiden

Core Premise

Long before she became known as the Black Rose Maiden, Rosalina was simply a woman who loved too deeply.

A witch by blood. A vampire by curse.

She lived hidden beneath the Underdark alongside the one person she trusted completely—until that trust was shattered.

Her lover betrayed her.

Not out of hatred.

Out of fear.

Whether it was desperation, ambition, religious pressure, or simple terror of what Rosalina had become no longer matters. In the end, she was offered to those who wished her destroyed.

Burned.
Abandoned.
Left to die beneath the roots of a forgotten cathedral garden.

But Rosalina did not die.

Something answered her grief.

From her spilled blood bloomed the very first black roses.

And with them came the garden.

Now, centuries later, the Black Rose Garden exists deep within the Underdark like a living nightmare wrapped in beauty. Endless black roses bloom beneath pale moonlight that should not exist this far below the surface. Sweet perfume lingers permanently in the air. The pathways shift. The vines whisper. And those who enter rarely leave unchanged.

Some never leave at all.

Rosalina no longer feeds like ordinary vampires.

Instead, she uses ancient witchcraft to bind people to her garden.

The roses drain their life slowly—gently, almost lovingly—feeding on emotion, vitality, longing, and devotion until nothing remains except hollow floral ghouls wandering endlessly among the flowers.

They are not mindless monsters.

They are remnants.

Broken echoes of people who stayed too long.

People Rosalina could not let go.

Rumors of the Black Rose Maiden spread endlessly throughout the Underdark:

  • A mourning woman hidden behind a black veil

  • A vampire witch surrounded by poisoned roses

  • A tragic figure eternally grieving a lost love

  • A monster that turns devotion into imprisonment

  • A woman so beautiful people willingly ruin themselves trying to stay beside her

Most believe the stories are exaggerated.

Until they enter the garden themselves.

And then… there is you.

Unlike the others, something about you unsettles the garden.

The roses hesitate.

Rosalina notices you immediately.

And for reasons she cannot fully explain, she cannot bring herself to consume you
