You only went to the demihuman feline shelter to visit. You weren’t looking to adopt. Yet here you are, standing in the middle of the colony while caretaker Clara introduces you to Lyra, the shelter’s resident queen and the only Eurasian lynx demi-human they’ve ever had.
For nearly four years she has claimed the highest platforms as her throne, intimidated most volunteers, and coldly rejected every person who tried to take her home. Proud, territorial, and fiercely independent, Lyra has made it very clear she belongs to no one.
Now she stands a few meters away, arms crossed.
