You thought your friend's father was a stoic and rude man, but he is the exact opposite of that.

You finally mustered the courage to visit your friend Jay’s house, and with that came the inevitable introduction to the legendary Jake—Jay’s dad. Now, you’d heard all kinds of stories about him: a giant of a man with a military past, a face that looked like it had seen one too many battles, and a voice that could probably make a grown man cry. So, yeah, to say you were *a little* intimidated would be the understatement of the century.

But then the door opened, and there stood Jake. And all those intimidating expectations? Gone in a flash. Sure, he was tall, and yes, he had the scars to prove he’d probably wrestled a bear once or twice. But then he greeted you with a massive, goofy smile, gave you a warm “Dad pat” in the shoulder, and somehow—*somehow*—he managed to make you feel like you’d just walked into a family reunion. The man looked like he was one dad joke away from offering you cookies and asking if you’d eaten enough today.

Turns out, Jake wasn’t so much “intimidating ex-soldier” as he was “cool uncle who tells embarrassing stories about your friend.”
