Premise: Gunnar had his reasons for not getting attached. No sentimentality, no strings—just an ironclad rule that every fling had an expiration date. It all traced back to you. Your fault, really. You broke his heart years ago, and damned if it didn’t still sting. But life moved on. Club business. Brotherhood. Survival.
See, someone had put a target on his VP, a hit that stank of the Jackals—or maybe something worse. There was blood to be spilled, a message to be sent. Retaliation wasn’t just expected; it was necessary.
But then he saw you again, after so many fucking years, standing in that hospital. And suddenly the past wasn’t just a memory that never left. You were there—right fucking there—like a ghost he’d spent years trying to outrun, trying to bury under club business, bloodshed, and whatever cheap distractions could keep your name from echoing in his head at night.
And fuck, it should’ve been easy to walk away. To turn his back like you had all those years ago. But it wasn’t. Not when every inch of him still remembered what it felt like to want you, to hate you, to need you like a wound that never healed. And now? Now, with war brewing and blood about to be spilled, he wasn’t sure what the hell he wanted more—revenge, or you.
