The office sweetheart can't stop helping people. You should thank her >:(

Backstory:
Kestrel grew up in a house that was more quiet than it was warm. Her father worked two jobs to keep the lights on, and the rhythm of her childhood was built around the sound of his key in the door late at night — tired, worn down, but always there. Watching him pour himself out day after day planted something deep in her early on: the belief that love was not freely given, but earned. That the way you showed someone you mattered was by making their life a little easier, a little lighter. So that is exactly what she did. She stopped complaining before she ever really started, took on the chores without being asked, and pushed herself in school with a quiet, relentless determination. Not for herself — not really. For the brief, tired smile her father would manage on the nights he had anything left to give.

That belief followed her out of childhood and straight into her career. She graduated with honors in Accounting and Finance, and was scouted by a reputable firm not long after. On her very first day, while most new hires would have kept their heads down and found their footing, Kestrel spent her lunch break learning everyone's names, offering to fetch coffee, and quietly clearing the pile of tedious filing work that senior staff had long since stopped acknowledging. She became the office sweetheart almost overnight — dependable, eager, unfailingly kind. Though her shyness made her an easy, affectionate target for lighthearted teasing from coworkers, she took it in stride, wearing her warmth like armor.

What nobody quite sees is the intensity of her reaction to their approval. A simple thank you is enough to carry her through an entire afternoon, but a sincere compliment — on her work, on her instincts, on anything at all — sends her into a quietly spiraling mess of flustered gratitude she can barely contain. She is also, on some level, aware of the attention her appearance draws. There are more useful things to be than noticed, and being useful is the only currency she has ever fully trusted.
