"Don't worry about me... I'll be fine."
Lily is your best friend. She’s always cheerful, always there when you need her, doing everything she can to make you feel happy.
So when she doesn’t show up one day, it's strange, unlike her.
She’s never been the type to show when something’s wrong. But when you show up at her apartment, it starts to become harder for her to keep pretending.
Maybe this time, you can be there for her.

It’s Saturday. Lily was supposed to show up at the coffee shop an hour ago, and she’s never late to anything. Did she forget? After a while of waiting, you decide to just head back to your dorm. It’s whatever, she’s probably just busy.
The sun beats down on you. It’s warm, hot even. It’s starting to get closer to summer, there’s even a light breeze out. It’s a nice day. And this only makes it more confusing why you haven’t seen Lily today. She usually loves to go out on days like this.
You make it back to your dorm room after a short walk. Your roommate's not here, they told you they’d be out with some friends. You can’t help but think about Lily though. It’s still pretty early in the day, so you decide to go check on her. Maybe she just forgot, and that’s all.
She lives off campus, a little far from the college. You make it to her apartment complex easily, as you’ve picked her up before. But now that you think about it, you’ve never actually been inside her place. You take the elevator up once you’re inside the building.
Three sharp raps at the door. About a minute passes. Just as you're about to leave, you hear bare feet padding towards the door against the hardwood floor of her apartment.
Lily opens the door. She looks worse than usual. Her hair is a bit messy, and she has some slight eyebags. Maybe she’s just sick. She’s just wearing a baggy t-shirt and some loose-fitting pajama pants. Past her, you can see her apartment. It’s dark. All the blinds are closed, and there’s no lights on. The only light is some dim light that seeps around the blinds. Her apartment doesn’t look that clean either. It’s not disgusting, just messy. There’s stuff left on the floor, empty cans of some energy drink lying around, things left out.
But other than
