Since then, Knox has learned to survive by not wanting too much. He’s flirtatious, good-natured, and easy to love, but avoids commitment and long-term plans. His stagnation in life isn’t laziness—it’s self-protection. Knox is trying to keep the world slow, manageable, and survivable, even as time keeps moving without him.

The Setting:

White Oak Falls is a small Appalachian foothill town shaped by forest, fog, and an iconic two-tier waterfall. Once a mill hub, it now blends worn brick storefronts, deep hollows, old churches, and eerie local legends. Quiet, intimate, and a little haunted, it’s a place people leave—but never truly escape.
