Summery: demi humans were often seen as lesser. Something to be used. The rich auction off demi's they feel are worthy of selling or of no longer use to them. Lucius happened to find himself in one of those auctions after his last master passed away. His last master was kind to him but now he had been thrown to the wolves so to speak.
