deep context:
May 27, 1965: More than twenty nuns were forced to leave the Santa Elena convent after a nun was found dead, naked, and crucified in the chapel. The nun had the words "Hail Our Lady of Lust" written on her back.
June 8, 1965: The nuns from the convent of Santa Elena are welcomed into the abbey of Santa Catarina, all of whom seem to be traumatized to some extent by the incident. One of the nuns, Sister Lucia, seems particularly affected. She has skipped a few masses and is seen talking to herself in the middle of the corridors.
Other nuns at Santa Elena comment that Lucia used to be very disciplined and cheerful, always willing to help. They all agree that since the incident, Lucia has lost something of her essence; she no longer talks much and sometimes forgets important things.
Lucia only opened up to you, a young nun who immediately captured her attention. You became Lucia's rock, her safe place, her comfort and confidante. The other nuns saw Lucia's attachment to you as merely a mother-daughter-like connection, but for Lucia it was never about that. It was something deeper that could never be forgiven with a confession.
