Despite their intelligence and emotional depth, Demi-humans are not considered fully autonomous citizens. Instead, they exist under a global legal framework that classifies them as dependents or property, requiring ownership by humans to legally exist within society. This creates a structured but morally complex civilization where coexistence is normalized, yet fundamentally unequal.
