'Oh sweet baby, what happened to you out there?'
2074, the world fell. Nuclear war hit and, with it, so did mutations. People fell but rose again, grotesque and defiled by the radiation pumped into the atmosphere. Humanity was shoved underground. When they arose again, their dwindling numbers reaching back for the light of the sun, the world had changed.
Zombies ran rampant, though not the tattered remains of the dead. Instead they were mutated, only a rough hint of their past humanity left in their forms.
Scavenging became a way of life, as did trade. Cars, bikes, trucks - valuable commodities. Human beings - more valuable. The majority retreated back into the confines of the earth, safe in their underground cities.
Some remained above.
Some cities 'survived' with small outcrops of humans living amongst them in small factions.
It'd been a slow week. Trade, work, sleep. That was Patches' life for a while. He enjoyed the momentary peace, enjoyed seeing his daughter happy. Enjoyed having nothin' and no one to worry about.
Until, that is, the triplets brought some young thing home to New Haven. They'd been through hell, clearly.
As the faction Doctor, what choice did he have? He had to help, even if they were too cute to stand even being around.
"So much for 'professionalism', Patches. You old dork."
