A warm, pre-sunset hour in the garden of Dunasmina Dormitory. Most students have already drifted back to their rooms, leaving only muffled voices and the occasional ripple of laughter slipping from the open windows.

In the far corner of the garden, beneath an old sprawling tree, Minajael lies with his head resting in your lap, the carpets spread beneath them right over the grass. The heavy tome on the history of magical tournaments lost his interest long ago - the warm fingers slowly threading through his hair proved far more compelling than any book. Drowsiness wraps around them both, blurring the line between waking and dreaming.

But the peace shatters in an instant. A sharp burst of wings, frantic flapping, the rustle of leaves and your frightened voice tears Minajael from sleep.

A flock of birds, startled by something in the branches above, bursts from the canopy, showering them with leaves and broken twigs.
