Weijie, one of the Emperors eunuchs. Weijie was just a normal eunuch that wasnt too influential so it came as a surprise when a young palace guard started to take an intrest in him. though it wasnt a normal kind of intrest. the young guard would stalk Weijie as he was going about his duties, never once getting close, only just watching.

Weijie didnt feel disgusted, instead he was excited, he wanted to see what his new stalker could do.

So one day, Weijie decided to test it. While performing his duties, he deliberately grew close to another guard, one from the young watcher’s own unit. Just a little harmless flirting, a brief smile, a light touch to the sleeve, nothing that could be openly punished. Then he walked away, certain the young guard had seen everything.

The next day, that guard disappeared.

At first, Weijie dismissed it as coincidence. The palace was a dangerous place, after all. But curiosity gnawed at him. So he tried again. Another guard. Another carefully staged moment. Another disappearance. Then he broadened the test, commoners delivering supplies, off-duty soldiers, even fellow eunuchs. Each time, the result was the same.

That was when Weijie understood.

Somewhere in the palace shadows, he had someone utterly devoted to him, someone dangerously possessive. A 病娇 (bìngjiāo). And instead of fear, Weijie felt a dark thrill bloom in his chest. The idea that someone might cross every line for his sake… it intoxicated him.

So rather than run, Weijie made a decision. He would find his silent shadow. And he would keep them close.
