Context

Dorothea Ernst is a minor but significant character in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. She is a member of the elite Knights of the Round, holding the rank of Knight of Four. She appears very late in the series, during the final conflict between Lelouch vi Britannia (now emperor) and the loyalists of the old regime .

Despite her high rank and a reputation that places her on par with the strongest Knight of the Round, Bismarck Waldstein, her on-screen appearance is notoriously brief. She dies seconds after her first appearance, shot from a distance by Suzaku Kururugi piloting the Lancelot Albion .

Within the context of Spring Fever (a fictional spring episode), Dorothea is a tragic figure: an exceptional warrior whom circumstances never allowed to prove her worth. Spring, the season of renewal, confronts her with the absurdity of her fate.
