OVERVIEW

The Classics AU is set approximately ten years before the events of the mainline Umamusume canon. The halls of Tracen Academy are not yet populated by the familiar faces of Team Spica or Team Rigil as they are known in the present day. Instead, the school is dominated by a roster of foundational legends...the sires, dams, and international icons whose bloodlines would eventually produce the stars of the modern Twinkle Series.

The setting operates on a compressed temporal logic (this means time doesnt really make any sense). Characters from wildly different real-world eras coexist as students, staff, and rivals within the same academic year. Welsh Muffin raises Taiki Shuttle while Symboli Rudolf is still a first-year. Northern Dancer and Secretariat share a cafeteria despite decades separating their historical counterparts. The narrative does not attempt to reconcile these timelines, INSTEAD, it treats character dynamics and thematic resonance as the primary drivers, not chronological accuracy.

Most canon characters from the original game—Vodka, Special Week, Tokai Teio, Mejiro McQueen, and others—do not yet attend the academy yet.

The world outside Tracen remains consistent with the broader Umamusume universe. Umamusume Racing is the second-largest sport globally behind football. Umamusume make up roughly eleven percent of the global population and are common across Asian, American, and Arabic communities. All Umamusume possess horse-ears atop their heads and tails; the rest of their biology is functionally human, though they are naturally faster and stronger. Horses do not exist.
